The NG-150 machine produces the fast neutron fluxes with energies ~ 2.4 and 14 МeV generated by the deuteron beam in the reactions D+d —> 3He+n or T+d —> α+n at using the deuterium and tritium target. The intensities of neutron fluxes make up accordingly ~ 108 and 1010 n/sec/4π.

Neutron generator NG-150 is the facility allowing one to carry out a wide range of scientific researches in the field of nuclear, radiation physics and elemental analysis with using of fast neutrons fluxes.
An unique facility is available for on-line definition of the content and concentration profiles of hydrogen and helium isotopes in various kind of samples within near-surface layers (NERD-Method). It is based on measuring the energy spectra of the recoiled lightest nuclei at irradiation by fast monocromatic neutrons. Such information is necessary for materials choice, used at design the nuclear-physical facilities including fission and thermonuclear reactors; in machine-engineering, at investigation of the diffusion processes of hydrogen isotopes in various materials ets.
Also the methods of activation analysis of the short-lived radionuclides equipped by the tube transfer system functionate at the fast neutron flux. The spectrometer based on HP Ge detector and two-arm scintillation spectrometer are used for this purpose.
